Marine Weather

Cloudy SeascapeEveryone talks about the weather but nobody ever does anything about it.

As sailors we are dependent on mother nature for our prime source of power. Sometimes she provides us with an over abundance. Sometimes none at all.

Being able to understand what causes our weather and having the ability to predict what is likely to happen in the short term future is an asset for anyone involved in sailing. Some consider it to be an essential skill.

This course is part of the CYA/FVQ Advanced Navigation Standard. During this course we will discuss global and seasonal weather patterns, cloud types and their implications, wind speeds and directions, frontal weather systems, interpreting weather charts and forecasts and preparing your own.
