Learning is much easier when you are having fun. So we try to arrange as much fun as safely possible.

We limit the use of gasoline to the minimum possible and all Ynot Sailing courses are offered in a non smoking environment.

Training Material

Comfortable inflatable type PFD's (Personal Flotation Device's) are provided for adults.

We strongly recommend reading "Basic Cruising Skills" by Gillian West (the Basic Cruising course text book) and ASA Coastal Cruising Made Easy or equivalent text books before attempting this course.

We will supply a set of customised course notes as soon as you register.

Sail Boat Galley

Cruising Lifestyle

As part of the crew you will experience all aspects of living aboard including cooking, helming, crewing, navigating, swimming, sleeping, socializing, etc.

The galley is equipped with a two burner propane stove with an oven augmented by a gas bbq on the stern rail. Food is kept fresh in a small built-in fridge-freezer. Menu

How about enjoying a live aboard course with an experienced CYA qualified instructor as skipper?

This course is designed for experienced day-sailors who are seeking to expand their horizons. It is ideal for sailing couples who get their own private cabin.

If you are a Basic Cruising graduate but have not had enough experience consider taking a Basic Cruising Refresher or an experience building cruise to tune up your skills prior to taking this course. Call us to discuss what would work best for you.

If you have completed a Coastal Navigation course or are just interested in practicing your navigation skills we will include opportunities during your personalized course.

Sail Boat

Schedule Options

Two full weekends or 5 consecutive days.
Weekends you join the boat on Friday evening and depart Sunday evening. You sleep on the boat 2 nights each weekend.The second Saturday night is usually spent at anchor in a local bay. Program (2 weekend format). The 2 weekend format is available out of Crysler Park Marina near Cornwall and Ottawa or Gananoque near Kingston depending on the timing.

We usually operate in the 1000 Islands area for the 5 day courses including a mini voyage to Kingston. Program (5 day format). If you would like to add extra days we can often accommodate that but don't leave it to the last minute. This is one of our most popular formats for obvious reasons.
